Leigh Hay

Leigh is a published poet and the author of seven books: A Gutsy Zoo of Goodness; Write Home of the Sunset; Stick Your Neck Out; Mind Your Mind; Capturing Clouds; Home before the leaves fall; and We Walk in Their Shadow.

In 2017, Leigh established Tales from the Treehouse – a boutique writers’ cooperative offering insightful books with messages of humour, truth, whimsy, respect, hope and imagination.

Leigh also wrote the libretto for When the Bugle Calls – a choral work to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme (Western Front, 1916), and the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan (Vietnam, 1966).

The world premiere of this commissioned work for the Heidelberg Choral Society, with music and orchestration by Australian composer Nicholas Buc, was staged in the Melbourne Recital Centre in August 2016.
