Denise spent the better part of her twenties traveling the world. Rather than speeding through a maximum of countries, she opted to spend longer periods in some places, learning languages and exploring different people and cultures. She was always interested in writing, whether in journaling her experiences, writing songs, or writing novels, and is now querying her debut novel – a fictionalized memoir of the year she spent living in Paris as a late teen.

Denise has a PhD in biochemistry and has published works in journals such as Nature Communications, Frontiers in Endocrinology, and The Journal of Molecular Biology.
In Search of La Petite Mort was longlisted for the 2022 Hawkeye Manuscript Development Prize (under a previous title, How I Found My Clit).
