Born in the UK of Polish parents, Maryna Mews née Głowacka, has lived in England, Cyprus and New Zealand. Prior to becoming a freelance editor (some twenty years ago) she worked in television and radio and ran many libraries. She has also worked in theatre and is still extending her singing repertoire.
Her first commissioned book, a memoir of a Greek-Cypriot family, which she wrote with a colleague, was published in 2018. Working on her own family history has proved even more enjoyable. Translating and adapting her Warsaw-born mother’s memoirs has revealed much of the drama her mother, Eugenia Plejznerowska, endured during the early twentieth century, WWII and the post-war years: Love Knows No Borders is close to completion. She is also planning a memoir of her fighter pilot father, air ace, Antoni Głowacki.
