Anna Ciddor invites you all to join her in celebrating the launch of her latest book Moonboy (Allen and Unwin, March 2025).
This will be an interactive, fun event with the audience encouraged to join in everything from sharing their own memories of watching the first moon walk, to writing a poem, to critiquing the blurb, to reminiscing about old Aussie slang… Can you explain what it means to say ‘two sandwiches short of a picnic’ or ‘she’s apples’?
Anna will also be revealing lots of the intriguing backstory of Moonboy – including how she found original radio and TV broadcasts to transcribe and incorporate into the story, and how she wove in her husband and brother-in-laws’ memories of living behind a milk bar as kids as the setting for the book.
This is a free event for members, non members are welcome to join us buy purchasing a $15 ticket below. Or why not become a member of the Society, head to our membership page for options.
About Moonboy:
When a boy called Keith pops up from nowhere in Letty’s bedroom and accuses her of invading his room, Letty is astonished – but things get even stranger when she realises she is caught up in an incredible adventure, able to slip back and forth in time!
Keith lives in the world of 1969 and Letty joins in the thrill and excitement of the first astronauts about to land on the moon.
But when she discovers her trips to the past are changing history, Letty starts to worry. What if something she says or does causes a disaster – or even messes up the moon landing?!
Sample review:
‘This is not just historical fiction, nor time-slip adventure, it’s a warm and moving story about the connection between granddaughter and grandfather, and how the littlest reminder can trigger a whole big wonderful explosion of joy and love. Able readers from 9 years upwards will thoroughly enjoy this one and I happily give it an out-of-this-world 5 star rating.’ From Sue Warren at losangzopa blog
