Every two years the branches of the Society of Women Writers in Australia nominate a female writer from their state for The Alice Literary Award. This award was initiated by the Society of Women Writers network to be presented to an Australian woman who has made a distinguished, long-term contribution to Australian Literature.
The award is in the form of a trophy and it is presented biennially. Each branch selects a nominee and the winner is chosen by an appointed judge. Each branch takes a turn at hosting the Alice Literary Award.
This year, The Society of Women Writers Victoria nominated Alice Pung OAM for the award, hosted by The Society of Women Writers Western Australia, and we are delighted with the news that she is the 2024 recipient. You can read the nomination information here.
Congratulations, Alice (the first Alice to receive the Alice Award.) Read more on the Alice Award page.
