Lynn Smailes: A Prescribed Life

TonyLynn3SWWVic member, Lynn Smailes can now add to her list of accomplishments. Lynn collaborated with Tony Atkinson to write his autobiography, A Prescribed Life: Royalty, Romance and Medicine, published by Affirm Press in June 2016. Tony’s has been an interesting and amusing life: surviving a brutal British boarding school, dodging Hitler’s bombs in England during World War II, working as a footman for Queen Elizabeth during the Coronation era, and his misadventures as a medical student moonlighting as waiter for the Churchills at 10 Downing Street. The adventure continued when Tony and the love of his life came to 1960s Australia as ‘ten-pound Poms’. Tony eventually settled into a medical career as a specialist anaesthetist, where his ability to see the funny side of life continued to sustain him in times of great change in his life, wider society and medicine.

Lynn will be a guest speaker at the AGM on 26 August 2016.
